Voyageurs Wolf Project Field Expedition Photographs from 2025:

Standing at the entrance of a den recently used by the Biondich Pack, guests learn from Tom Gable about how wolves raise their pups and what these sites reveal about the wolf reproductive behaviors we study.

Out in the field, guests examine a wolf-proof fence built in partnership with the project, a local cattle ranch, and wildlife services.

Field Expedition guests are able to go behind the scenes of real-world wildlife research. Inside our headquarters, you’ll handle and examine authentic biological specimens while learning directly from project researchers on how each piece was collected and how it helps us study wolves.

Less than 48 hours after a successful hunt made by the Biondich Pack, guests investigate a real wolf kill site and the evidence left behind. Guests get to learn how this evidence reveals how the wolves took down their prey and what it tells us about their predation behavior.

Experience a detailed walkthrough of how the project captures and GPS-collars wolves, which is a critical part of our research and data collection.

Enjoy field lunches just like our researchers: surrounded by the landscapes we study wolves in. On day two, lunch is held at a ranch where guests learn how a wolf-proof fence was designed and built to mitigate wolf depredations on cattle.

Guests get a firsthand look at how our researchers deploy trail cameras across the study area and a detailed demonstration on the field techniques we use to capture rare, iconic footage of wolves and other wildlife that helps drive our research.

Learn about how we track our GPS collared wolves and identify cluster sites across our study area, the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem (GVE).

Some lucky guests walking alongside one of the livestock guardian dogs (Rocket) actively working on the ranch!
